Breakthrough of HeadRace Tunnel Between Adit-1 and Adit-2
The Kabeli-3 Hydropower Project, situated amidst the picturesque landscapes of Taplejung district, has achieved a significant breakthrough with the successful completion of its HRT (Headrace Tunnel). This accomplishment signifies Nepal’s commitment to harnessing clean and renewable energy sources for sustainable development. The HRT tunnel, stretching an impressive 1874.27 meters, plays a pivotal role in channeling water from the intake to the powerhouse. Construction commenced on Jestha 11, 2080 B.S. (May 24, 2023), and despite various challenges, the project progressed steadily thanks to the dedication of engineers, workers, and project managers. On Chaitra 18, 2080 B.S. (April 1, 2024), the project celebrated a significant milestone as the HRT tunnel breakthrough was achieved. This achievement not only highlights technical expertise but also showcases Nepal’s commitment to reducing reliance on fossil fuels and embracing sustainable energy alternatives. Gratitude is extended to all involved in the project for their collaborative efforts, which have been instrumental in this remarkable feat. As Nepal continues its journey towards renewable energy development, the success of the Kabeli-3 Hydropower Project’s HRT tunnel breakthrough serves as a beacon of progress towards a greener and more sustainable future.
